Youth Involvement

Empowering the Next Generation

At the Cannon County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, we believe that young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow—they are the changemakers of today. Our youth involvement programs create meaningful opportunities for students to become active advocates for healthy, drug-free communities.

Through school-based initiatives, peer leadership programs, and community engagement activities, we empower young voices to make a real difference in substance abuse prevention efforts across Cannon County.

Youth Involvement

Empowering the Next Generation

Our School-Based Programs

We work extensively in schools throughout Cannon County, bringing prevention education, leadership opportunities, and peer support directly to students. Here are some highlights from our ongoing work with local schools:

Youth in Action

Getting involved and having fun is what youth engagement is all about! Whether it's partnering with the Cub Scouts, sports, or community activities, Cannon County kids are learning new skills, making friends, and building confidence along the way. These experiences help our youth grow as leaders while staying connected to positive role models and each other. We're proud to support opportunities that give kids a safe, encouraging space to learn, play, and thrive.

Youth Voices at Day on the Hill

Our Cannon County high school students recently took part in Day on the Hill, joining youth and leaders from across the state to speak up about the importance of substance abuse prevention. This experience gave students a chance to share their voices, learn more about advocacy, and see firsthand how they can make a difference in their community and beyond. We’re proud of these young leaders for stepping up and representing Cannon County with passion and purpose!

Planting the Promise

Students at Cannon Elementary School joined together during Red Ribbon Week to plant red tulip bulbs as part of the “Plant the Promise” campaign. Each bulb represents a commitment to making healthy choices and living drug-free. When the flowers bloom in the spring, they’ll serve as a bright reminder of the promises made by our youth to grow strong, healthy, and substance-free.
